Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, M-F; hours will vary at times due to weather, City festivals, etc.

Salary: Minimum $35,153; dependent on experience

POSITION SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to perform various labor work for the Engineering Department. Work involves comprehensive building maintenance, etc.

This position works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs general building maintenance which involves electrical, plumbing, mechanical, construction and equipment repairs. Paints, plasters, and performs other needed repairs to walls, doors, etc. Monitors A/C and services as needed.

• Completes work orders on a regular basis.

• Drives and operates department vehicles and equipment that require a commercial driver's license. Receives and/or reviews various records and reports such as maintenance route lists, daily hour logs, and vehicle preventative maintenance checklist.

• Prepares and/or processes records and report as needed.

• Refers to equipment operator's manuals, policy and procedure manuals, codes/laws/regulations, etc.

• Uses a variety of equipment and tools such as lightweight trucks, shovels, rakes, lawn mower, axes, chain saws, weed eater, and various other supplies in the performance of job duties.

• Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the Maintenance Supervisor, other City employees, and the general public.

Additional Duties:

• Performs general administrative/office duties as required, including typing reports and correspondence, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents, sending and receiving faxes, answering the telephone, etc.
• Continually stays up to date on all policy, procedure, and/or process changes.
• Completes all work accurately, safely, and efficiently.
• Keeps work area clean and safe.
• Maintains any assigned equipment in safe and good operating condition.
• Reports to Supervisor any suggested improvements or areas of concern.
• Ensures professionalism and exceptional customer service during all interactions while performing job representing the City of Greer.
• Exhibits strong ethical standards; ability to create trust and integrity with co-workers, customers, and community.
• Adheres to Employee Handbook and other relevant policies and procedures.
• Maintains regular and sustained attendance.
• Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE - REQUIRED

• Requires a high school or GED equivalent.
• Two (2) years of experience in labor work.
• Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and construction; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
• Must obtain and maintain a valid South Carolina commercial driver's license.
